Collective
Wealth Part II
A Vehicle with the Power to Change Everything!
by Morgana Braveraven
Alright – where
were we? Oh yes, George the Broke had just put the family home on
the line to purchase a café… George has never run a business before,
has no business skills, no skills at all relevant to running a café
– can’t cook, wait tables, order stock, do payroll or accounting of
any kind, and I had left you with three questions:
1. Do you think
that George is just going to give it a try and just see if it
works?
2. Do you think
that George is going to amass a fortune in 3 to 6 months?
3. Do you think
that George will have to master a new skill set to make a go of the
café business?
Silly
questions, I know, but stick with me. The point I’m making is worth
it…
Do you think
that George is just going to give the café a try and see if
it all works out for him? Hmmm – he did put his house up as
collateral, so I am thinking that he will give it more than just a
try.
Do you think
that George will amass a fortune in 3 to 6 months, then kick back
and take vacations and buy collector cars for the rest of his life?
Does this seem likely… do you know anyone who has purchased a café
that has ever had that kind of experience? I certainly don’t! A more
likely scenario is that George will be working 20 hr days and
probably won’t see a profit for 5 years.
Do you think
that George will have to master a new skill set..? Ok, this is
really a ridiculous question. If George does not master a new skill
set immediately, he is going to loose his house and savings, and the
café, in less than a year.
These are all
ridiculous questions – and yet, when most people enter the arena of
Network Marketing they not only entertain these kinds of thoughts,
they thoroughly believe them!
Madness, I tell
you – utter madness!
Let’s get a few
points straight: There isn’t any business in the world that you
would invest in and then just give it a wee try to see if it
would work out for you…
There isn’t any
legitimate business, traditional or networking, in which you could
expect to amass a fortune and retire within 3 to 6 months.
In order to run
any business effectively, you will need to master the required
skills and get to work! Traditional business is not a free ride and
neither is a networking business.
So, when you
hear horror stories about people who did not make it with a
networking business, you can be sure of a few things:
They did not
commit to their business or their success. They did not have the
skills needed to run their business successfully, and they did not
learn the skills they needed or put them to work. They
unrealistically expected that their business would take off like a
rocket and they would retire within a year. And the result of these
unrealistic expectations is what we call attrition, where people
leave the business screaming that Network Marketing is a scam and
that Network Marketing is a pyramid scheme where the big buys at the
top make all the money and everyone else goes broke…
Oi…
Network
Marketing is not a scam nor is it a pyramid scheme – but as with any
business you must understand the market you are entering and you
must know how to make it work, and if you don’t know how to make it
work, you had better learn, and quick!
So how does it
work and how do you make it work? Well, there is a phrase that I
like that sums up part of it: Network Marketing is a contact sport!
In order to make this business work, you need to talk to or
communicate with people in one way or another – and lots of them!
And not only do
you need to talk to them, you need to seek out others, who like you,
desire a home business – and, you need to train them so that they
can duplicate what you do, and if you are not at a point where you
are comfortable training people, then you need to be able to plug
them into a proven system and connect them to someone in your upline
who can help to train them. Success in Network Marketing is based on
a few key elements, one of which is Duplication. You need to
duplicate what other successful people are doing, and who ever you
bring into your business needs to duplicate what you are doing.
Duplication is
crucial, and it leads to other wonderful elements known as Leverage
and Residual Income. Let’s just take a moment to define these fine
terms.
Duplication:
the art of learning and
duplicating what other successful people are doing, and then
teaching it to others so that everyone is doing the same things the
same ways and getting the same, duplicatible, results.
Leveraging:
the art of working
together whereby you are earning income not only from your own
effort, but also from the efforts of others in your organization.
(Which would you rather do: go out and find 100 new customers for
your business, or, teach 10 people to go out and find 10 new
customers each. In each case, you end up with 100 customers in your
business, but the first example has you working harder and the
second has you working smarter ;o)
Residual
Income: getting paid for
a sale you made once, for as long as your customer continues to
purchase products/services from your company.
So how do these
elements work together, and how does Network Marketing manifest what
I call Collective Wealth?
Simple – start
here:
Find a company
that you would be proud to represent. One that has products and/or
services that you yourself are passionate about and would use.
Find someone in
that company that is successful and duplicate exactly what they do.
Find others
who, like you, desire to earn a solid income from home. Then train
them and get them duplicating what you do. Keep looking and keep
finding them – you will always be looking to grow you organization,
as will those whom you sponsor into your business.
Gather
customers and teach those you sponsor to gather customers.
Schedule your
work time, and be consistent with the required activities every day.
Attend as much
training as your schedule will allow without interfering with your
income producing activities. Also be sure to participate in personal
development – you will likely need to stretch and grow.
Develop
whatever skills are needed that you don’t currently have – and
master those skills. Continue to learn new ways to market you
business, both online and offline. Stay fresh and stay ahead of the
pack – this is a highly competitive industry.
Refuse to give
up. Ok, now this could be the most important point I make. When you
decide to jump into this industry, make sure that you jump in with
both feet, a big commitment, a really big dream (your “why”), and
some short and long term goals.
I can guarantee
that if you approach this industry and just try it out… just get
your toes wet… you will not succeed. This business will eat you
alive. This industry is not for the meek or the faint of heart –
it’s for those who are determined to succeed and who come in with a
big commitment knowing in their hearts that quitting is never an
option.
And why would
quitting be an option? If you started a printing shop or a gift shop
you would never consider quitting. You would look for new ways to
build your business and you would stick it out and make it work.
There should
not be a difference with Network Marketing. In this industry you
need to give yourself at least one year to make a good go of it,
particularly if you are coming in with no previous business
experience and a short list of contacts. During your first year you
will experience a huge learning curve as you learn to duplicate the
actions of those who have succeeded before you. As well, you will be
teaching those same duplicatible actions to everyone who partners
with you in your business.
In Network
Marketing, you work for yourself, but you never work by your self.
Success, everyone’s success, is a team effort. Those in your upline
do not succeed if they do not do the work required, train you
properly and help you get going down the road to success. You do not
succeed if you do not do what needs to be done, train your downline
and help them start down the path to success.
In Network
Marketing you work together, collectively, each helping the other
build and grow. It’s not a pyramid scheme where only the top bananas
make the big bucks. It’s collective effort, where everyone and
anyone can make the big bucks. It’s not one person doing the same
thing over and over. It’s many people doing the same thing,
collectively, over and over again. And believe me, the bonuses and
residuals make it worthwhile for everyone.
Network
Marketing… you might want to give it further attention.
