Holy Cow there are a lot of interesting programs out on the web!
Everyday I see more and more and, well - more.
If I were new to this industry I wonder how I would ever choose
which opportunity to take on.
The number of new networking opportunities emerging over the
internet is absolutely staggering! Everyday my inbox is filled with
messages from associates of mine asking “Hey, Morgana - did you see
this!” Wow, Morgana, make sure you take a good look at this one!”
Look! Look! LOOK!!!!
I do look at a lot of them - and honestly, many of them do look
very good. They are very tempting. But how many good opportunities do
I need, and more importantly - how many can I work effectively at one
time?
Goodness, I could sign up for a new opportunity everyday, and
create incredible multiple streams of income. Couldn’t I…?
Well, I could sign up for a new one every day, and I would be
creating multiple something - but I don’t think it would be streams of
income. More like multiple streams of memberships.
Memberships and associations, however, do not become success
centers without a certain amount of effort. At some point we have to
take into account the number of programs we can work effectively
at one time without losing focus.
Focus? Did she say Focus? I’m working 12 programs! I’ve got plenty
of Focus!
Well - with 12 programs on the go, you do have plenty of something…
Focus…? Hhhmmm - not exactly.
If you are working an excessive number of programs, it tells me one
thing - your focus is on making money - not on successfully developing
your business.
But - if you don’t work to develop a successful business, if you
don’t make a plan and work it, how can you expect to realize the kind
of financial gain that can only be the result of a well developed
business?
Starting a networking business requires planning and development -
it’s no different than traditional business in this respect. And like
traditional business ventures, the money follows the planning
and development of said business.
If you are going to work more than one program you need to pace
them. And what I mean by that is that you will have to get one up and
running well before you take on another. You’ll have to hit one out of
the park before you can toss up another one and take another
swing…Don’t believe me - borrow a bat and a couple of baseballs from
you kids. Toss two balls into the air and take a swing. Did you hit
them both? Try it again. Hit anything? Try again. My guess is that you
are tossing up a lot of balls, and doing a lot of swinging - but your
not hitting anything ;o)
In any networking business it takes time to get things in order.
There are comp plans to learn, product information, service
information, policies, marketing plans to organize and put into
action, automated services to set up , and so on. And if you are new
to the industry, then you have all the more to take in. You don’t just
have to learn about the company you represent - you have a whole
industry to learn about. That in itself can be overwhelming.
Imagine trying to put it all together for four or five programs at
the same time - sounds like an invitation to insanity to me.
Good heavens - a single ad campaign is enough to keep my head
spinning most days.
To succeed as a network marketer you need to focus on your business
and how it is progressing. You need to focus on developing and growing
your business. You need to focus on training and supporting those that
join you. If your attention is scattered over four or five programs,
all which you took on within the same two week period, it is unlikely
that any one of them will flourish.
Taking on too many programs at once is like tossing an entire pot
full of boiled pasta against the wall to see if it is cooked - it
won’t stick. It can’t. There’s just too much of it. The result is a
sticky heap of noodles lying on the floor.
Messy.
If you want to succeed at your program you need to focus your
energy on that program. If you take on too much all at once you will
only succeed at creating a lot of confusion for yourself, and focus
and confusion don’t usually reside in the same brain.
Hey - I fully support the concept of multiple streams of income,
and I know some folks who work that concept very successfully. And
when I ask them how they did the answer is always the same: One
step at a time with careful planning and plenty of focus.
So let’s get back to it. Focus and keep your eye on the ball. If
you don’t, it might just hit you in the head.
